Dt466 Injector Cup Replacement

May 20, 2009. I have a new truck 1999 International with DT466e. Ebay Injectors look just like the ones we commonly replace ourselves in our 3126E Cat. Wondered if there is a written step by step injector replacement guide for the DT466. Haven't turned a wrench in this truck yet. She's dumping dark smoke from the tail. I sure am jealous of those dodge owners, but I love my truck also. It has plenty of power and is enough for me. But I am like you, I want to build a dodge beater also as well as a John Deere beater. When comparing apples to apples, the 400 series IH engines are almost unbeatable in the tractor pulls. Just wish Navistar would build another small superb I-6 for us 'truckies' too.

If you can, look for a 414cid IH block. They are shorter block than the DT466, but can easily be stroked to over 500cids and have lots of power.

My company has sold literally hundreds of 3208s for marine applications. Go to Bristol Bay Alaska and snoop around in the fishing fleet. You'll find that 9 out of 10 boats have 3208s in them.

They are known to be 'tried and true' and just keep running no matter what. The best ratings were the 210 HP natually aspirated and the 260 HP turbo non aftercooled version. Cat quit making the 3208 because it was too 'dirty' in the emissions department, not because it wasn't a good engine for them. Now, to answer the question about how much power you can get out of one, Cat has pulled 435 HP out of that engine easily. You can make this at 2800 rpm without too much trouble. But if you are doing this to a naturally aspirated engine you'll have to fork over some $$ for pistons, heads, injectors, a new fuel pump, and a different turbo with jacket water aftercooler housing. There are many used parts available though, so check out that resource.
