Just an idea but why not use the iSight with a barcode scanning app? There must be plenty on the App Store. Further to Robert's suggestion of an iSight solution, I've used iCody on the iPhone for this, it's not particularly cheap and still a bit more awkward than a proper scanner but it allows you to draw a scan area with a box which makes it possible to grab the often long thin barcodes Apple use. Tried a bunch of others on the iPhone and that was the only one that worked for me, it allows you to email yourself the list.

Hope this helps. Sean On 9 Mar 2012, at 14:15, Robert Fakes wrote: >Just an idea but why not use the iSight with a barcode scanning app? Vdo Cdr 2005 Keygen Photoshop more. There must be plenty on the App Store.

I remember the thread as we were looking for one to help with our inventory. We went with the LS2208 which isn't the cheapest by far, but one of the qualities that it had over other reviews I found was the distance it would read.

We were scanning serial numbers from boxes on pallets and it would read them 12' - 18' (maybe further.I forget) away without difficulty. So we've been happy with it.

Now.if you're looking at something that will read the barcode off the Mac itself that may present bigger challenges. I haven't tried it on machines built in the last year or so but we could never get it to read the tiny print that was on the iMac or Mini. So our scanner was only good for reading the boxes they were shipped in. As some suggested now with the built in cameras and iApps available there may be some other options that add functionality. We have a cheap ($30 or so) CCD based USB scanner that works just fine. It's hard to hit the right barcode when you have lots of thin ones next to each other, like on Mac boxes, so you might want to spend a little extra for one of those nice laser based scanners.

Use your iPhone / iPad. _____________________________________________________ MacEnterprise, Inc Subscription Options and Archives Larry Hunt 09.03.12 08:42. We use this and it works great and the price is right! We've been doing this for about 4-years. It's the only way to go!

I read a bit about iCody this morning and bought it to try it out. Looks very functional. I like that it can 'type' your scanned barcodes in your computer via wifi, or submit them to a form over HTTP.

The main limitation I see is if you have to use it on a device that has a lower resolution camera and can't focus very close. But it worked well on my iPhone 4S. That, and if your barcodes have much wear and tear it's going to have a little trouble interpreting them. David Eric T Gadsby 09.03.12 10:38.
